Myotherapy is an area that fascinates me. This is a two and a half year course, a quite intense diploma. It feels more like a career. This course gives a detailed learning of myotherapy as well as a background in health, especially alternatives to Western medicine. They even throw in a First Aid certificate 2, which is always useful!
You need to complete year 12 and at least one science subject. International students are also encouraged and accepted, although good levels of English is required. There are Open days at the campus (in Melbourne) which are really helpful to attend. You just apply directly to the College, go to their website for more info.
I think there might be scholarships available if youre super talented but I really have no idea about this topic. A good chance to ask them about this would be at one of their open days or call them.
Subjects and assigned subjects have been very thorough. So far Ive learnt a strong background in anatomy and physiology as well as information about soft tissue therapy and the basics of myotherapy. Ive been really liking it so far. Its all been fascinating! This course is more expensive than TAFE but probably not as expensive as university. It is costly but it is worth it- the course content is excellent and the skills we learn, invaluable.
Theres not much of a social scene that accompanies the study, as the Australian College of Sports Therapy is a small, privately run educational institution. However the campus is located in Queen Street in Melbourne CBD so the location is fantastic. My friends and I just walk down to Flinders Lane (nearby) and grab coffees there. Like I mentioned, this isnt like a uni so theres no O Week and all that. Theyre not much help with accommodation so you basically just organise yourself. However, you may want to avoid all the costly organised student housing traps and just rock onto www.Domain.com.au and get in on a sharehouse, so much cheaper and a better social, more independent experience.
Graduates can qualify as professional health practioners who can practise myotherapy. We can work for private clinics or maybe one day open up our own business. The second one sounds good to me, I like that idea. I think that as a qualified myotherapy practioner my career prospects are looking good. These days people are more receptive to alternative paths to health and I will have a specialised, unique knowledge in the field of sports therapy and muscle treatments that can be of help to my clients. I shouldnt have any trouble getting work, especially if I stick to well developed cities, where the relatively new myotherapy is more well known.
Terletak di Victoria.
